For a long time it was a relatively poor area and home to some of Barcelona’s most destitute residents. Today, Poble Sec is making a name for itself as an up-and-coming corner of town with a great food scene. As a multicultural and working-class neighbourhood, Poble-sec maintains a popular character and varied culture, and it is open to all those who want to go and take a look. Its main arteries are Carrer Blai, which is like a little "rambla" packed with bars and shops in equal measure, and Plaça del Sortidor, where a young Joan Manel Serrat used to play and now you can find the neighbourhood civic centre, which has been very active in recent years. The area is well connected to the rest of the city due to the excellent Barcelona transport systems that comprises of both Metro, Busses and Trams. The Bus station is a minute away from the apartment and connects the line 192 and V25. Getting to the apartment from the airport is simple, an aerobus from the airport to Plaça d'Espanya will bring you to a 12 minute walk away from the apartment. The aerobus tickets can be purchased online, the bus departs directly out the airport and also routes to the airport, these trips are made several times a day by the aerobus company.
